Summary[edit]

Description
English: Suppression and Incident activity on the Delta Fire, burning north of Redding, CA along I-5.

USFS crews from Six Rivers NF Engine 323 attack a spot fire that threatened 2 homes near Pollard Flats.

Assisting also was Angeles National Forest Engines 339 and 331, who are specially equipped to go after fires in a more urban interface setting.

As their forest is in the more heavily populated southern California and more roads cross their area of operations (both on and off the forest) they see a great number of car fires.

Car fires are notorious for their noxious smoke and toxic by-products. As such they have heavier protective clothing, self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and training to suppress these fires safely.

Both structures were saved.

Crews are working night and day shifts to affect suppression along the fire which earlier closed Interstate 5 in Northern California.
