Dâkîni Tibet début XVIIIè s. (?) cuivre doré, traces de polychromie Musée Guimet Les Dâkînis ("celles qui marchent dans l'espace") sont au Tibet les compagnes de la déesse Kâlî. La sculpture montre cette terrifiante déesse, piétinant un cadavre (aujourd'hui disparu) tout en exécutant une danse triomphale, le corps nu. "Une dâkîni est une déité féminine de l'hindouisme et du bouddhisme vajrayāna, importante dans les pratiques tantriques du bouddhisme tibétain. Les dākinīs sont des personnages composites dans lesquels on entrevoit la silhouette de divinités de cultes antérieurs au tantrisme ou au bouddhisme, d'esprits de la nature, de sorcières ou démons féminins indiens ou himalayens."
