Description Folkmarknaden i Västerås hade årligen ägt rum en sensommarsöndag och torg och gator vimlade då av högtidsklädd landsbygdsungdom, som sökte plats som pigor och drängar och stadde sig hos husbönder och arbetsgivare, vilka också i stort antal mött upp. På 1860-talet upphävdes »folkmarknaden» officiellt — men ännu 1871 hölls den »enligt gammal vana», om ock dess ursprungliga uppgift gått förlorad.
