Rückseite: FELICITAS FORSTERIN ALT 50 1527 G A 77. Hüftbild der Felicitas Forster mit übereinander gelegten Händen und Schaube halbrechts. Kommentar: Möglicherweise ist die Medaille ein Arbeit des Joachim Forster, der hier seine Eltern dargestellt hat. Er selbst hat sich als Sohn eines Schlossers bezeichnet. Forster war nachweislich seit 1516 bei dem Bildhauer Murmann in der Lehre und lässt sich zum Goldschmied ausbilden. Er kehrt erst nach Reisen in die Schweiz, nach Italien und Frankreich sowie dem Besuch unterschiedlicher Fürstenhöfe in seine Heimatstadt Augsburg zurück. Dort ist er 1579 verstorben. Seine Tochter Regina war übrigens mit Christoph Weiditz verheiratet, einem der bedeutendsten Medailleure der deutschen Renaissance (an anderer Stelle wird Weiditz auch als sein Schwager bezeichnet). Die Medaille ist unsigniert, obwohl Forster selbst geäußert hat, dass er seine Arbeiten mit seinem Tauf- und Zunamen und 'gewöhnlichem' Zeichen signieren würde. Trotz nicht erkennbarer Signatur darf man wohl von einer Arbeit Forsters ausgehen. Forsters Bruder Johann ist der bekannte evangelische Theologe, der seit 1549 als Professor für Hebräisch und Prediger an der Schlosskirche zu Wittenberg tätig war. Literatur: G.
