Description

c/n 8004 Built 1969 as a Nimrod MR.1 with the British military serial XV229 and was upgraded to MR.2 standard in the early 1980’s. Served with 42 Squadron, the Kinloss Wing and the St Mawgan Wing and was retired in 2010. She made her final flight, and the final flight by any Nimrod MR.2, when she was flown to Manston on 26th May 2010. She was then used by the MOD Defence Fire Training and Development Centre (DFTDC) before being broken up in December 2020 when the centre closed. The nose and fin were saved and joined the museum here. RAF Manston History Museum Manston, Kent, UK
