Español: Representa a don Fernando Girón, gobernador de Cádiz, dando instrucciones a sus subordinados para organizar la defensa de la ciudad, amenazada por la escuadra inglesa que aparece al fondo. Ese suceso, que tuvo lugar en 1625, fue una de las acciones bélicas elegidas para decorar el Salón de Reinos del Palacio del Buen Retiro en Madrid, junto con otras encomendadas a pintores españoles como Velázquez, Maíno, Vicente Carducho o Pereda. English: Don Fernando Girón y Ponce de León directs the defense of Cadiz against the attack of the English fleet under Sir Edward Cecil, later 1st Viscount Wimbledon, November 1, 1625. |
