Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in 1885, this Queen Anne-style house located at 130–132 East Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was designed by John Nader for Frank G. Brown and his wife Minnie. The house was renovated circa 1921 into an apartment building, which it remains today. (See the Property Records for the house and the carriage house online.)

The house is clad in painted brick with a concrete-clad stone base, Queen Anne-style double-hung windows and one-over-one double-hung windows, two-story bay windows on the front and side facades, double-decker porches at either end of the front facade which were added in 1921, with brick columns and pilasters featuring recessed panels, brick railings on the first floor, paneled railings on the second floor, and an enclosed sun porch on the south porch with casement windows, a hipped roof with a front gable, low-slope roofs over the porches, and eaves with modillions and dentils at the cornice, decorative window headers, stone sills, and a gabled rear ell.

The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
