Description
Deutsch: Frankfurt Bockenheim, Basaltstraße 23;Torbogen der ehemaligen Liederhalle. Vor 1900 war hier eine Eisfabrik für den in der Nachbarschaft liegenden Schlachthof in der Basaltstraße 21. Um 1900 entstand im Vorderhaus eine Gaststätte mit anliegender Liederhalle. Daher auch die Motive über dem Eingangsbogen. Ab 1907 war hier u.a. die Bibliothek der Bockenheimer Gewerkschaft und der Sozialdemokratie. Am 23.09.1913 hielt hier im Saal Rosa Luxemburg eine Rede. Während der beiden Weltkriege war hier ein Lazarett. Nach 1945 wurde hier der Titania Lichtspielpalast eröffnet. Ende der 1970er Jahre wurde dieser Betrieb geschlossen. 1985 kaufte die Altkatholische Kirchengemeide die Liegenschaft, verkaufte den Anbau der Saalbau GmbH der Stadt Frankfurt, die hier im Juni 1989 das 38.Bürgerhaus der Stadt Frankfurt mit ca. 300 Sitzplätzen eröffnete. Damalige Umbaukosten ca. 7,5 Millionen DM. 1985 hatte die Stadt zuvor das Bockenheimer Depot saniert und als Spelstätte eröffnet. 1998 beschloss die Saalbau GmbH im Zuge ihrer Sparmaßnahmen die Schließung dieses Bürgerhauses. Die Räumlichkeit wurde zunächst vom Privattheater Galli genutzt. Nach deren Auszug ist sie zur Zeit die subventionierte Spielstätte einer anderen freien Bühne.
