Deutsch: Gästehaus I der Goethe-Universität, ehemalige Villa Hauck; Das Gästehaus I der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt, Ditmarstraße 4 wurde als Villa Hauck der Familie des Frankfurter Bankhauses Georg Hauck & Sohn erbaut. Sie beauftragten 1932 den berühmten Berliner Architekt Hermann Muthesius mit dem Bau dieser Villa. Er war von 1896-1903 in der deutschen Botschaft in London tätig gewesen und stand unter dem Einfluss des britischen "Arts and Crafts Movement", der Bewegung zur Belebung des Handwerks durch die Kunst. In seinen Villenbauten legte er größten Wert auf eine solide handwerkliche Ausführung des Klinkermauerwerks, der Sprossenfenster und der Schieferdeckung der steilen Dächer. Diese Villa Ditmarstraße 4 in Frankfurt am Main entspricht noch stärker dem englischen Landhausstil in der vornehmen Grundhaltung. Er war auch der Architekt des 1907-10 erbauten Hauses Sonneck in der benachbarten Zeppelinallee. Nach dem Krieg wurde auch die Villa Hauck von den Amerikanern beschlagnahmt und diente als Wohnsitz ihres Oberkommandierenden. Nach Rückgabe an die Bundesrepublik verfiel die Villa. In langen Verhandlungen gelang es dem Stiftungsratsvorsitzenden und Universitätspräsidenten, dem späteren Intendanten des Hessischen Rundfunks Hartwig Keim, das Land Hessen von der Idee eines Gästehauses für die Universität zu überzeugen. Das Land Hessen erwarb das Grundstück von der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und stellte es der Stiftung 50 Jahre unentgeltlich zur Verfügung. Von Bund, Stadt Frankfurt und Sponsoren beschaffte die Stiftung die umfangreichen Mittel für eine umfassende Sanierung und entsprechenden Ausstattung des unter Denkmalschutz stehenden Gebäudes. In 1986 war der Umbau zu Ende. Heute wird die Villa als Gästehaus I der Goethe-Universität benutzt. Die Villa verfügt jetzt über 10 moderne Apartments und großzügige Begegnungsräume in historischer Bausubstanz. Sie ist durch einen weiträumigen Stiftungspark mit dem neu errichteten Gästehaus II , der ehemaligen Villa Cahn an der Frauenlobstraße 1 verbunden und grenzt nördlich an die ehemalige Villa Merton. |
