Description
Deutsch: Der Opernplatz befindet sich direkt vor der Alten Oper in Frankfurt. Nach Osten geht er in die Große Bockenheimer Straße (besser bekannt als "Fressgass"), nach Süden in die Taunusanlage über. Der sog. Lucae-Brunnen wurde 1872 von dem Architekten der sog. ALTEN OPER Richard Lucae (1829–1877) entworfen, aber erst 1983, 100 Jahre später, vom Bildhauer Edwin Hüller realisiert. Er ist 120 Tonnen schwer und aus Granit. Sein Becken hat einen Durchmesser von 17 Meter und seine Schale 5 Meter. Er ist 3,20 m hoch. Hinter dem Brunnen sieht man das ehemalige Hotel IMPERIAL in der Taunusanlage, Ecke Bockenheimer Landstraße, von 1907, das durch Ausbruch des Krieges wenig erfolgreich war und schon vor seiner Sanierung zum Bürohaus mutierte. Die Bauherren kamen aus der Ungarisch-Frankfurter Hoteliersfamilie Gömöri, die in Frankfurt u.a. das Parkhotel KAISERHOF am Wiesenhüttenplatz erbauen ließen und erfolgreich betrieben. Im Hintergrund ist der Messeturm zu erkennen.
