Summary[edit]

Description
English: Františka Lyčková, née Mannová (* 3 March 1899 Hluboká nad Vltavou - † 24 October 1942 Mauthausen concentration camp) was the wife of MUDr. Břetislav Lyčka (* 24 May 1903 Stará Bělá - 21. July 1942 Ouběnice), who in January 1942 treated the paratrooper Jozef Gabčík's injured leg after his descent into the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and on 27 May 1942 treated the facial wound (caused by shrapnel from a bomb thrown during the attack on Reinhard Heydrich) of Staff Sergeant Jan Kubiš. Františka and Břetislav Lyčka were searched for by the Protectorate police from 14 July 1942 (at the instigation of the Gestapo). Františka Lyčková was planning to leave Prague for Moravia, one day (14 July 1942) she was hiding in the apartment of the actress Anna Letenská (Prague 1, Soukenická 1196/11), but her hiding place was betrayed and the next day (15 July 1942) she was arrested at the Main Railway Station in Prague while trying to leave Prague. During the intense interrogation she apparently suffered a myocardial infarction and was subsequently unable to communicate in any way. She was transferred from the Prague prison at Pankrác to the police prison in the Small Fortress of Terezín. On 29 September 1942, she was sentenced to death in absentia by the Tent Court in Prague. She was deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where she was murdered by a shot from a small-calibre pistol in the back of the head in the sniper's corner of the Mauthausen Bunker during a fictitious medical examination on 24 October 1942 at 10 a.m.
