Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sketch showing the Diocese of Freising and the Prince-Bishopric of Freising (in purple), which was secularized in 1802.
For centuries, the prince-bishop ruled as a secular monarch over his fragmented prince-bishopric. As an ordinary bishop, he administered his much larger diocese, which extended over all of Upper Bavaria including Munich, capital of the Electorate of Bavaria.
