The tortoises have appeared an order of the reptiles and for the first time before more than 220 million years in the Karnium.

Tortoises see very good. They can differentiate colours even better than people, because her eyes show four different colour receptors like with all reptiles. They are thereby able to perceive also parts of the close infrared radiation and ultraviolet ray. However, grey tones seem to differentiate them less.
