Fukagawa Susaki is the name of the promontory, which is the vantage point from which this scene is being viewed. It is the site of a famous temple to the god Benten, who was worshipped for good luck in the New Year. J?mantsubo, which means one hundred thousand tsubo (about eighty acres), is the name of the reclaimed suburban marshland, here shown covered with snow, owned by a feudal samurai lord."
