English: Funerary relief depicting a Sphinx. It is carved on one of the sides of a sarcophagus. What follows is the museum inscription about the sarcophagus as a wholeː "Attic sarcophagus. Marble. Found in the district of Vyron, Athens. The sarcophagus is adorned with reliefs of Dionysiac character. Dionusos is shown on one of the long sides, supported by a Satyr with small erotes holding the symbols of the four seasons. The other long side has a small eros, gardlands, bucrania (bull-scalps) and lion’s heads. One of the narrow sides has a sphinx and on the other are two small erotes and a censer. A.D. 150-170.
