Description
Deutsch: Göttinger Wald, Naturschutzgebiet BR 161 bei Nikolausberg, Landkreis Göttingen, Niedersachsen. Das Gebiet ist geprägt von großflächigen Kalkbuchenwäldern, die im Osten der Muschelkalkscholle des Göttinger Waldes auf einer Höhe von 350 bis 400 m NN wachsen. Die Muschelkalkscholle ist von zahlreichen trockenen Erosionsrinnen durchzogen, die überwiegend in ostwestlicher Richtung verlaufen und zu einem standörtlichen Wechsel unterschiedlicher Expositionen beitragen.
English: Göttingen Forest, nature reserve BR 161 near Nikolausberg, district of Göttingen, Lower Saxony. The area is characterized by extensive calcareous beech forests, which grow to the east of the shell limestone block of the Göttingen Forest at an altitude of 350 to 400 m above sea level. The shell limestone floe is criss-crossed by numerous dry erosion gullies, which mostly run in an east-west direction and contribute to a local alternation of different exposures.
