GOES-S flew aboard a U.S. Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy cargo transport from Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado, to Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida on December 4, 2017. GOES-S will join its sister satellite, GOES-16, in orbit as GOES-17. Shipping a satellite is no small feat. GOES-S is over 18 feet wide and weighs more than 6,000 pounds!
