Rückseite: [MV]NICIPI PAREN[S]. Schiffszier. Kommentar: Sein drittes Konsulat erreichte Agrippa im Jahr 27 v. Chr. Ein späteres Prägedatum nach 23 v. Chr. (Tod des geplanten Augustusnachfolgers Marcellus) ist wahrscheinlich, möglicherweise ab 19 v. Chr., als Agrippa in der Hispania sein Prokonsulat antrat. Der vorliegende Münztyp verdeutlicht exemplarisch die zunehmende Romanisierung der Prägungen von Gades: Das Porträt des Agrippa ersetzt hier das des Hercules Gaditanus, des eigentlichen Schutzgottes der Stadt. Es ist nun Agrippa, der als Patron und Vater (Patronus und Parens) dessen Aufgaben übernimmt und die Stadt augenfällig unter den Schutz der Römer stellt. Ähnlich verhält es sich mit der Schiffszier: Sie ersetzt die vorher dominanten Rückseitenmotive Thunfisch und Delfin. Die maritime Thematik bleibt also erhalten, ist aber nun ganz auf den Naulochossieger Agrippa zugeschnitten. - Dazu: W.
