Deutsch: Vorderseite: Kopf des Herkules nach l. Im Nacken eine geschulterte Keule.
Rückseite: PONT B[AL]BVS. Priestergeräte. Messer (secespita), Kelle nach l. (simpulum/simpuvium), Axt (securis). Kommentar: Die Priestergeräte der Rückseite korrespondieren mit dem Pontifikat, welches der Propraetor L. Cornelius Balbus in der Umschrift anzeigt. Mit diesem typisch römischen - und auch auf die Stadt Rom bezogenen - Motiv und Vorgehen der persönlichen Werbung durch bereits erlangte Ämter oder Würden kontrastiert das traditionelle, in der phönizisch-punischen Geschichte der Stadt wurzelnde und in hellenistischer Ikonographie ausgeformte Bild des Hercules Gaditanus (Melkart). Der indigene gaditanische Kult wird damit dem stadtrömischen Kultus gegenübergestellt. - Dazu: W.
