Deutsch: Vorderseite: IMP SER GALBA CAES AVG TR P. Kopf des Galba nach r.

Rückseite: LIBERTAS - PVBLICA. Libertas steht in Frontalansicht und hat den Kopf nach l. gewandt. In ihrer ausgestreckten r. Hand hält sie eine Freigelassenenkappe (pileus), im l. Arm einen Stab (vindicta). Beiderseits S - C.

Kommentar: Die Attribute der Libertas, pileus und vindicta, sind der Zeremonie der Sklavenfreilassung entnommen. In der Kaiserzeit ist die Libertas oft als Zeichen des Endes der tyrannischen Herrschaft des Vorgängers zu deuten. In der Münzprägung Galbas spielt sie eine besonders wichtige Rolle betont sie doch die Befreiung des römischen Volkes von der Schreckensherrschaft des Nero durch Galba. Die vorliegende Legende LIBERTAS PVBLICA tritt passend hierzu unter Galba erstmals auf.
