Description
English: Guardsman soldier in uniform of the Norwegian Royal Guards (Hans Majestet Kongens Garde) on guard by a sentry box outside the Royal Palace in Oslo, Norway. Photo taken on February 26th, 2020. The King’s Guard has permanent sentry duty at the Royal Palace, Skaugum Estate, Bygdø Royal Farm when in use, Akershus Fortress, and Huseby military camp. Traditional uniform with plumed Bersaglieri bowler hat.

Gardens paradeuniform består blant annet av svart bukse med to hvite beiser (breie render, striper), mørkeblå jakke med grønne epåletter (skulderklaffer), rød passepoil (innsydd kant eller rand langs sømmen) og doble tresser (galoner, dekorative bånd) på ståkragen og på de spisse ermeoppslagene (mansjettene). Den breibremma, svarte bowlerhatten er inspirert av den tradisjonelle uniformshatten for italiensk lett infanteri (Bersaglieri, bergjegere) og har hakereim, fjærbusk av svart bøffelhår og kongemonogram (navnesiffer) oppå kokarden foran.

Garden omfatter rundt 160 ansatte og 1200 vernepliktige. Infanteriet i bataljonen holder til i Huseby leir i Oslo, Gardens rekruttskole (Gardeskolen) på Terningmoen i Elverum. 3. gardekompani består av en musikk- og drilltropp.
