| Description |
English: On Easter Sunday, 23 April 1848, volunteer revolutionary soldiers led by Gustav Struve in the Sigel Division joined battle with government troops at this site, the Jägerbrunnen in Freiburg. Following this brief encounter, in which 3 troopers and 20 volunteers died, the revolutionaries fled. The insurgent Sigel Division subsequently dissolved, and the initial group of 4,000 revolutionaries shrank to 400, who unsuccessfully tried to join forces with Freiburg insurgents. The remainder of the Division then disbanded.
Deutsch: Am Jägerbrunnen trafen am 23. April 1848 Freischärler der Kolonne Sigel unter Führung Gustav Struves auf Regierungstruppen. Nach kurzem Gefecht, bei dem 3 Soldaten und 20 Freischärler starben, flüchteten die Revolutionäre. In der Folge löste sich der Sigel Zug auf. Von anfangs 4.000 blieben noch 400, die erfolglos versuchten sich mit den Freiburger Aufständischen zu verbinden - daraufhin löste sich auch der Rest des Zuges auf. |
