English: “NAVY CROSS FOR SOLOMONS’ HERO---Admiral Chester A. Nimitz, USN, Commander-in-Chief of Pacific Fleet, pins the Navy Cross on Brigadier General William H. Rupertus, USMC, of Washington, D.C., in a ceremony at Marine Headquarters, on Guadalcanal.”
