Description

Dolmen de la Forêt à Gennes (Maine-et-Loire).

Il y a longtemps que la forêt a disparu.

Ce dolmen, de type angevin, a deux tables portées en presque totalité par deux orthostats*.

L'entrée avec un portique posé sur deux pierres est orientée vers l'est.

La chambre mesure quatre mètres de long et deux mètres cinquante de large. Les deux tables sont séparées par une dalle plus petite comportant un trou de douze centimètres de circonférence, au ras du sol.

Le dolmen est en grès éocène.

  • Un orthostate ou orthostat désigne, dans l'architecture gréco-romaine, chacun des blocs de pierre dressés de chanta la base des murs.

Le terme est aussi employé pour désigner des pierres dressées, comme les menhirs, ou les pierres verticales qui font partie d'une structure mégalithique plus grande.

Long ago that the forest has disappeared.

This dolmen, Angevin type has two tables laid almost entirely by two orthostats *.

The entrance, with a portico resting on two stones, is facing east.

The room is four meters long and two meters fifty wide. The two tables are separated by a small slab with a hole twelve cm in circumference at the ground.

The dolmen is Eocene sandstone.

  • A orthostat or orthostat means, in the Greco-Roman architecture, each of the blocks of stone prepared crowed the base of the walls.
The term is also used to describe standing stones, such as menhirs, or upright stones that are part of a larger megalithic structure.
