Fatally Injured At Polo. Brother-in-Law of Duke of Beaufort. Captain G. V. Scott-Douglas the husband of Lady Blanche Douglas and brother-in-law of the Duke of Beaufort died to-day from injuries he received in a fall during a polo match in London yesterday between the Dolphins for whom Captain Scott-Douglas played and the Life Guards “ B ” team Captain Scott-Douglas’s pony came into collision with the pony cf another player while taking part in the Young Cup competition at Templeton Captain Scott-Douglas’s animal fell on top of him He was picked up unconscious and taken at once to hospital “ He died without recovering consciousness’’ an official stated “ There was no pain He just passed quietly away” Captain Scott-Douglas’s team the Dolphins yesterday beat the Life Guards “ B ” team and to-day they were to oppose the Life Guards “ A ” team in the semi-final of the Young Cup Second Heir to Baronet Captain George Francis Valentine Scott-Douglas was 32 years old and the only son of Mr. Francis John Scott-Douglas heir-presumptive of Sir George Douglas Had Captain Scott-Douglas survived his father and uncle hr ’ovlcl have succeed'd to tile Scottish Baroiiucy and the extensive estates at Springwood Park Roxburghshire For some years he held a commission in the 1 5 ill Hussars and both before and after his military career he was a keen polo player Six years ago he married Lady Blanche widow of the Earl of St. Bermans and elder daughter of the ninth Duke of Beaufort The present Duke of Beaufort is a brother of Lady Blanche Scott-Douglas A Tragic Coincidence Captain Scott-Douglas’s death was a tragic coincidence for Lady Blanche whose first husband lost his life in the hunting field Captain Scott-Douglas was a member of the Hurlingliam the Ranelagh and the Roehampton Clubs.
