Deutsch: Alkandros führt Sappho zu den Sehern, die über ihr Schicksal entscheiden sollen. Sie bekennt sich der Tempelschändung schuldig, doch gibt sie ihre Reue zu erkennen und erbietet sich, zur Sühne sich von dem Leukadischen Felsen ins Meer zu stürzen. Die Seher erklären sich hiermit einverstanden. Sappho bittet Klimene zu sich und teilt ihr mit, daß sie sich dem Tode geweiht habe, sodaß jene bald von ihrer Nebenbuhlerin befreit sein werde. Alkandros nimmt schließlich der Sappho den Eid ab, daß sie sich beim nächsten Tagesgrauen von dem Felsen ins Meer stürzen werde. |
