English: Mountainous Glaciers Changes since 1970. Color red and yellow represents thinning of glaciers, while color blue represents growing of glaciers. The survey period was from 1970 to 2004, and among all 173 glaciers, most of them were situated in North America and Europe. During the period, 83% of surveyed glaciers showed a trend of shrinking with 0.31 meters per year in average. Svartisen in Norway is the most rapidly growing glacier in the sample with a thickening of 0.64 m/yr, while Ivory Glacier in New Zealand is the most rapidly shrinking at 2.4m/yr.
