La neuroquinina B inicia y/o acelera la actividad neuronal KNDy sincronizada a través de receptores NK3 acoplados a Gq estimulantes para liberar kisspeptina que estimula la liberación de GnRH a través de GPR54 acoplado a Gq estimulante expresado en neuronas GnRH.

La dinorfina A es liberada de las neuronas KNDy luego termina la actividad neuronal KNDy a través de los receptores opioides κ inhibidores acoplados a Gi.
