Graveyard of St Peter's Arthington, Wharfedale, West Yorkshire, England. Showing front of plinth of gravestone of sculptor Matthew Taylor (1837-1889), which lies near the north-east corner of the church. The inscription above (not shown here) says: "In loving memory of Matthew Taylor, sculptor, who died July 9th 1889, aged 52 years. Also of George, son of the above, who died in Aliwal North, South Africa, January 16th 1896 aged 23, and was buried there." The inscription on the plinth (shown here) says, "Also in the grave is lying at foot, Elizabeth, wife of the above named Matthew Taylor, died November 3rd 1934 aged 91 years. RIP." |
