It takes and lot of twisting and turning of its head and neck for this heron to preen its feathers.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This image was taken on Little Sugar Creek Greenway in Charlotte, NC USA. The heron found a tiny bit of land jutting above the surface of the creek water to clean its feathers using it long beak. There are many ways this bird can twist and turn its neck and head to reach nearly every area of its body.
