Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Small dam for Great Falls Feeder, seen from Towpath, at about 14.12 miles or about 81 feet above Lock 18 (See Hahn, Towpath Guide p. 42). Feeder has been abandoned and inlet culvert is bricked in, being made redundant by Dam No. 2. According to Unrau (Historical Resource Survey), it was on Canal Section No. 18, contracted to Bargy and Guy to construct, and finished in April, 1831 at a cost of $2,110.45. Note: this small dam has nothing to do with the Washington Aqueduct dam made later.
