VERY IMPORTANT NOTE : This portrait has been sold in auction, and the catalog menntioned that it was the portrait of Renaud César de Choiseul Praslin by Greuze (then viscount de Choiseul Praslin, later 2° duc de Praslin).

This assertion is ABSOLUTELY FALSE.
Later resarches proved that this gentleman is a "marquis de Choiseul) probably of the Beaupré line, and that the artist is Madame Vigée Lebrun. Portaits of Renaud-Cesar still exist and have NO likeness with this gentleman.

Please do not change the name of the artist and the name of the person, unless you can tall which marquis de Choiseul he is.

-- Vigée Le Brun wrote in her Memoirs (Souvenirs) that when she was a teenager, she painted a marquis de Choiseul who was making eyes at her, despite the fact that he had just married a beautiful sixteen year old American girl named Rabi. That would have been in late-1770 or early-1771, and the man was Charles Antoine Etienne de Choiseul-Beaupré, seigneur de Sommeville, called marquis de Choiseul-Beaupré, who was born in Petite Anse, Saint Domingue (now Haiti) on 10 July 1739, and died 13 April 1820. He was colonel à la suite du régiment Dauphin (étranger) en 1763, puis lieutenant général. His parents were Antoine-Nicolas de Choiseul-Beaupré (1716-1760) and Renée-Marie-Michelle Barbé de Beauval (1718-1802). His first wife, who tragically died in 1772, was Louise Raby.
