| Description | It's time now to leave the Penang Bird Park. This large Grey Pelican was temptingly close to the boardwalk leading out of the aquatic birds enclosure. He was doing some odd contortions cocking his head up and looking down, all the time with his large bill wide open. It was as if something was stuck in his throat. I was getting a nice aerial view of the inside of his mouth, as I was directly above him. Unfortunately, I had my 70-300 lens on, and the bird was too close to allow for a good view with that honking long lens. I therefore decided to enjoy the sight instead. I did manage this shot, the 70-300 notwithstanding, when the Grey Pelican was looking down. (Butterworth, Penang, Nov. 2013) |
