Wist je dat de Kauw (Corvus monedula) gebruikt maakt van verkenners? 2 of 3 vogels die rondvliegen in hun gebied, op zoek naar voedsel. Dit communiceren ze door, binnen hun groep, waarna ze massaal opduiken op de voedselplek. Over de Kauw is nog meer te vertellen. De vogelgroep heeft ook nachtwakers. Wanneer iedereen in diepe slaap is zijn er vogels die wakker blijven en de groep beschermen tegen aanvallers. In een woonbuurt kan het dus gebeuren dat er Kauwtjes zijn die in het donker op jacht lijken te zijn op buurtkatten net zo lang tot ze weg zijn.

Did you know that the Jackdaw (Corvus monedula) uses scouts? 2 or 3 birds flying around their area in search of food. They communicate this within their group, after which they appear en masse at the food spot. There is more to tell about the Jackdaw.

The bird group also has night watchmen. When everyone is fast asleep, there are birds that stay awake and protect the group from attackers. In a residential area, it may therefore happen that Jackdaws appear to be hunting neighborhood cats in the dark until they are gone.
