| Description |
English: "Moulting young elephant seals keeping warm together". By "moulting" is meant: The seal sheds its skin regularly. This is on South Georgia or Sandwich Islands (source: The Flickr source). Therefore, it may very well be the "Southern elephant seal", known as "Mirounga leonina". Not sure why they would be so young (as the caption says). These seem to be female, since the male has this big "elephantish" nose. |
