Description

The bearded gentleman in the front is John Griffith Morgan.

John Griffith Morgan's Obituary: SPANISH FORK - John G. Morgan, 93, the oldest man in the L.D.S. Palmyra stake, died at his home Friday of ailments incident to age. He had been in failing health several months.

Mr. Morgan was born in Llannelly, South Wales, August 12, 1840, a son of John E. and Margaret Griffiths Morgan. He came to Utah and directly to Spanish Fork in 1861 and was active in all the work of building up the city. He was one of Spanish Fork's two surviving Black Hawk Indian war veterans.

He had always been deeply interested in music and for many years sang in the Spanish Fork choir, and after the wards were divided was a member of the Third ward choir.

He was married as a young man to Margaret Chambers. She died in 1906. He is survived by a son and daughter, Owen G. Morgan and Mrs. John H. Thomas, Spanish Fork; ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren. The body is at the Claudin Funeral Home and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
