Italiano: Sarpa salpa. Appartenente alla famiglia Sparidae (come i dentici o le orate) è l'unica specie del genere Sarpa Si trova in tutto il Mar Mediterraneo, in prossimità di ambienti rocciosi e in praterie di Posidonia oceanica. La salpa è un pesce che vive in grandi gruppi che si muovono rapidamente. Una caratteristica di questa specie è la potenza del suo nuoto che emette vibrazioni nell' acqua. Lo sparide nasce carnivoro, cacciando anellidi, crostacei e altri invertebrati, per poi passare in età adulta a cibarsi di alghe.
English: Belonging to the Sparidae family (like snappers or sea breams), Sarpa salpa is the only species in the Sarpa genus. It is found throughout the Mediterranean Sea, near rocky environments and in Posidonia oceanica meadows. Salpa is a fish that lives in large, rapidly moving groups. A characteristic of this species is the power of its swimming which emits vibrations in the water. Sparids are born carnivorous, hunting annelids, crustaceans and other invertebrates, and then move on to feeding on algae as adults.
