AWM caption : "Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. October 1915. The forward guns of HMS Swiftsure as she lay in Suvla Bay off Anzac. The wave painted at the bows and the wash painted on the side are meant to deceive the enemy gunners. The Swiftsure's guns were 10-inch and 7.5-inch, and it was said, at that time, that ammunition for the 10-inch guns was no longer being made."
