Description

Section of bulkhead of HMS Warrior (1860), in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Hampshire, UK. This is taken from a modern door cut through the bow bulkhead of the armoured citadel amidships on the lower deck. This should be representative of the Warrior's armour scheme of 4in iron plate backed by 18in of teak.

The bows of the ship are beyond the right edge of the photo. Visible in the bulkhead, from right to left, are (a) the wrought iron armour plate; (b) the teak backing to the armour; (c) the iron hull.
