| Description |
English: As part of the Chateau-Thierry monument, the sculptor Alfred-Alphonse Bottiau carved two enormous figures representing France and the United States of America and celebrating the friendship of these two countries. The two figures hold hands as shown in this photograph. The Chateau-Thierry monument was erected by the Americans to mark the contribution of their soldiers to the Second Battle of the Marne in 1918. |
