English: Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. – The story of three representations goes like this:
  1. Hans von Aachen (1552–1615): altarpiece (1594). – Munich, St. Michael’s church.
    The saint is shown on the right side.
  2. Jan Harmensz. Muller (1571–1628), after Hans von Aachen’s altarpiece: engraving (between 1596 and 1603/04, or between 1598 and 1602), 52.6 × 34.5 cm. – Prints in various graphics collections.
    The engraving reproduces the altarpiece in reverse, with the saint on the left side.
  3. Anonymous painter, after Muller’s engraving: this small-scale painting, 65.0 × 58.5 cm. – Warsaw, National Museum.
    Like the engraving, this painting reproduces the altarpiece in reverse, with the saint on the left side.
