Summary[edit]

Description
English: Unimpressive cave entrance "Hausener Bröller" in Hausen an der Lauchert, (village at the Lauchert), Swabian Alb.
However, geologically and speleologically it is the portal of one of the most important caves on the Swabian Alb. "Bröller" is a swabian word for loud sound from within, when after a heavy rain (or snow melting) period the cave turns all of a sudden into a water cave. It is the only cave in the catchment area of the Lauchert whose altitude is close to the recent rockbed level of the river.
Serious speleological studies began as late as 1991. By 1995 a length of 523m with 3 narrow sumps were mapped. The third sump of the at least 12000 years old cave could not yet be penetrated.
