Description
Français : Sommet porte St-Jean de La Souterraine (23).

Apparu au XIIIe avant surélévation 2 siècles après l'édifice, haut d'à peu près 25 m, présente une base rectangulaire. Il est flanqué sur les côtés de 2 tourelles en encorbellement. L'architecture présente aussi créneaux et mâchicoulis bien visibles, ainsi qu'une niche abritant une statuette.

La porte sert de prison jusqu'à une époque avancée, puisque les derniers détenus en sortent vers 1860.
