Deutsch: Helmholtz-Schule, Frankfurt am Main. Die Eintragung aus dem Frankfurter Adressbuch für 1943 verweist u. a. auf das Annexgebäude Habsburger-Allee 55, in dem seinerzeit der Schuldirektor (1. Etage) und der Pedell (Erdgeschoss) residierten. Dieses Gebäude war in seiner 1. Etage durch einen eingehausten Übergang mit dem Schulhauptgebäude verbunden. Dieser Übergang mündete dort im Zwischengeschoss des nördlichen Treppenhauses zwischen Erdgeschoss und 1. Etage. Annexgebäude und Übergang wurden bei britisch-/US-amerikanischen Luftangriffen auf das Frankfurter Ostend in der Nacht vom 4. Oktober 1943 zwischen etwa 21 und 24 Uhr zerstört. Bis 1971/72 stand auf dem Areal eine Holzbaracke mit zwei Klassenräumen. Nach deren Abriss entstand 1972 die heutige Einfeld-Turnhalle. – Dr. phil. Karl Julius Theodor Zeiger (* 3. Dezember 1877; † nach 1959) hatte 1901 zum Thema Beiträge zur Geschichte des Einflusses der Neueren Deutschen Litteratur auf die Englische promoviert. Seine Referendarzeit absolvierte er 1901/02 am Gymnasium Weilburg in der Mauerstraße 1. Er veröffentlichte u. a. Lehrbücher für den neusprachlichen Unterricht an Höheren Schulen. Vor der Helmholtzschule war er ab 1920/21 Direktor der Frankfurter Liebigschule, zu dieser Zeit in der Sophienstraße 70 (darin heute: Max-Beckmann-Schule). Ab 1925 erschien an der Liebigschule während Zeigers Ägide eine der ganz wenigen Frankfurter Schülerzeitungen, Der Bienenkorb (bis 1933). |
