Description |
English: Portrait of Victor Amadeus II of Savoy (1666-1732), son of Charles Emmanuel II of Savoy "The inscription on the portrait may well have been applied during the lifetime of Victor Amadeus, although it cannot be contemporary with the execution of the portrait. The sitter was the fifteenth Duke of Savoy, and in 1713 became King of Sicily. He then exchanged this kingdom with that of Sardinia in 1718, at the suggestion of the Holy Roman Emperor." [1] |
