Description
English: High Bridge near Farmville, Va. Site of two battles during Lee's retreat. Built in 1854, rebuilt in 1914. Photo taken from 2 miles north at Ashland plantation. Mountain in distance is called Leigh's Mountain

2400 feet long by 125 feet above the Appomattox river. Converted from railroad bridge to pedestrian bridge. Now part of Virginia State Park. http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/high-bridge-trail. The park size is about 31 miles long. It encloses about 1206 acres
