Description

On Gosport Street in Lymington. This way to the Town station.

At the bottom of the High Street is Oriana and Hillyar & Son. Gosport Street is to the left. Quay Hill is straight ahead (the cobbled road). Another shop to the left is Loose Ends.

Grade II listed buildings.

2.Mid/late C19 corner block.White brick facade with cornice, blocking course and slate roof. Facade to Gosport Street of 3 storeys. 5 windows, sashe with late C19 glazing: bracketed cornices above those of first floor. Top floor windows with painted stuccoed lintels, some blanks. Ground floor has northern altered Cl9 shop front, flanked by round-arched eastern door and with double carriageway doors under western arch. Both arches with stucco keystones and impost blocks. Good double southern shop front (now 2 shops) with arched lights and cornice with end stops overall. Facade to Quay Hill of red brick ( ground floor colourwashed). 3 storeys and basement. Modern reproduction bow and 1 sash ground floor. C19 small cast iron bollrd against corner of No 1 at junction of Goport Street and Quay Hill. Building has importnt position at junction of 4 of the town´s main streets.

Nos 1 to 7 (odd) form a group.

   Main facade to Gosport Street of white brick with brick eaves cornice and parapet.
   Slate roof 3 storeys, 2 windows, those of 2nd floor with minted lintels, those
   of 1st floor with bracketed cornices above and shutters. Sashes with late C19
   glazing, good double shop front below (now 2 shops) with arched lights and cornice
   with end stops overall. Included for shop front and important position at junction
   of 4 main streets at the bottom of High Street. C19 small cast iron bollard against
   corner of No 15 at its Junction with Gosport street.
   No 15 forms part of a group with Nos 1 to 7 (odd) Gosport Street and alson with the
   listed buildings on Quay Hill.
