Schematic depiction of the history of the Universe from the Big Bang to present

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Schematic visualisation of the history of the Universe from the Big Bang to present. In this type of diagram time is on the vertical axis; the size ('volume') on the horizontal axes. All axes have logaritmic scales. That means the size of the Universe in the diagram appears not to grow for moments when the cosmic inflation rate was assumed to be constant (between 10-32 second and 6 billion years). The exact history of the inflation rate in the past is poorly known, so this type of diagram only shows the global idea. It is possible, for example, that after the period of rapid inflation the Universe was the size of a grapefruit or the size of a galaxy.
