Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hitachi HA12157NT Dolby B-C stereo IC. This is a 64-pin behemoth with built-in digital level control and recording EQ. Needs a microcontroller to initialize. 1.778 pin spacing. A quirky thing; the classic HA12058 or the Sony CX20187 are much more convenient (can't comment on sonics).
ICs with 1.778 mm pin spacing can be mounted on 2.54-mm-spacing perfoards diagonally. Some bending of pins required. But it works, because 1.778 = square root of 2.54. Here, instead of bending the IC, I used 26-pin strips from a DIP socket with 1.778 mm spacing. The twelve lowermost pins belong to record EQ section and are unnecessary in a plain Dolby circuit.
