| Description | Always a welcome sight when your destination hut comes into sight - about 1.5 kms from this point. - downhill all the way from here! Was suffering from dehydration at this point so was very glad to reach the hut. The doors had been left open and there were lots of big black jumbo-jet blow flies in the hut. After drinking plenty of water and recovering I set to and got rid of the flies, swept the hut out and got plenty of fire and kindling wood in. Nice then to sit down with a cuppa in the sun and then was joined by about 8 or 9 other trampers. This has got to be one of the best of the Doc huts. Desert Road and Kaimanawas in the distance... |
